Welcome to the DragonRanch Inn home gardening, home dehydrating, and food storage blog.
The purpose of this blog is to record and share my journey toward achieving my self-sufficiency mission, and my progress toward reaching the goals which will help me achieve that mission.
Mission:
My mission is to increase my self-sufficiency by increasing the amount of my own food that I grow, increasing my skills at dehydrating foods and using dehydrated and freeze-dried foods, increasing my food storage for longer-term emergencies, and sharing what I've learned along the way.
Short-term goals:
1. Grow more of my own foods. 2. Dehydrate, or otherwise preserve, my produce that I can't eat right away. 3. Keep 2 weeks worth of easily-prepared foods on hand for emergencies. 4. Keep easily-prepared foods on hand for lunch or dinners when I'm tired and don't have time to cook. 5. Learn how to cook with dehydrated and freeze-dried foods, as well as staples such as beans.
Long-term goals:
1. Prepare for longer-term disasters and emergencies by continually increasing my food producing (gardening and fruit) ability and long-term storage. 2. Store enough food to outlast a disaster lasting first 3 months, then 6 months, then 9 months, then a year.
